This limited edition, screenprinted shawl on 100% Italian silk with rolled hems was created by Frank Stella, in collaboration with his longtime publisher Kenneth Tyler of the legendary Tyler Graphics Studio, and it printed in Italy. It comes wrapped in yellow tissue in a red silk presentation box with an accompanying Certificate of Authenticity, hand signed by both Stella and Tyler. The work itself is signed and dated by Stella.
While the silk Whale Watch Shawl is indeed wearable art, many collectors choose to frame this hand signed 54 square inch silkscreen to display as a stunning and easily recognizable work of art by Frank Stella.
Among innumerable lifetime achievements, honors, awards and accolades, Stella was the very first artist to be awarded a much buzzed about retrospective exhibition at the new Whitney Museum of American Art in the fall of 2015. One of his paintings recently fetched a new auction record of $12 million at Sotheby's.
